Emergency lighting
PTS (Photoelectric Test Switch) option allows maintenance personnel to manually test difficult to access Emergency lighting equipment. When a conventional spotbeam flashlight (not supplied) is aimed the PTS sensor located on the bottom of the unit, the unit will transfer into emergency operation. Depending on the intensity of the flashlight, testing can be accomplished at distances of up to 30 feet away.

These codes dictate the specifics as to when, where, what, and how Emergency lighting Equipment shall be used.
They also dictate that allEmergency lighting Systems must haveperiodic maintenance with records kept on file of this maintenance.
Emergency lighting Equipmentlisted by Underwriters Laboratories (underUL Standard #924 ) must meet performance testing requirements since it will be relied upon to provide a specified amount of power for 90 minutes during a power outage.
